Pausing our bakery operations…

I wish I could reach out to each of you to express my gratitude for your support of our little bakery. I love what I do, and it’s because of you that I get to do it. I love baking for you. I love creating something real for you to have at your dinner table. I love that I get to bake, but even more, I love that I get to serve you and grateful that you come back time and again.

It was a difficult decision to pause my bakery operations. I want to push through and I want to keep going. I have realized though, that if I want to continue to bake, I need to make sure my body fully heals.

If you’re interested in why I need to take this break, here’s the abbreviated version of the story…

About a month and a half ago we found out we were pregnant with what would be my fifth child. We were excited and anticipated a beautiful future as a family of seven. Shortly after finding out, we told our four children who shared in our excitement for a new baby.

About a week and a half ago I experienced some intense symptoms, and after rushing to the emergency room, we discovered that my pregnancy was an ectopic pregnancy that had ruptured. It required emergency surgery which was masterfully done by my OB. The gratitude I have for my doctors and nurses cannot be described. I know not everyone has the outcome that I had. The nurses made it clear to me that it was good I went in when I did. This was one of those situations where I could feel God watching over our family.

The future we had been planning for the last month was suddenly changed over night.

My body will take some time to recover. After going through the blood loss that it did, as well as a major surgery, I’m needing to put the brakes on in my life to make sure I heal properly. Anyone who knows me knows this was not an easy decision. My mind and my soul want to be baking bread for your tables. I don’t have a date when I know I will for sure be back, but even two weeks feels like a long time away.

I am deeply grateful for those who have come to us for bread; whether you pick up at my home, or whether you find us at the farmer’s market, I’m so thankful for you. Your support allows our family to have opportunities to work and to grow together in ways that wouldn’t be possible without our small business.

I am anxious to come back and to serve you the best that I can.

All our love,

Courtney and the Harville Family
